The Building feature in Heartopia is one of the game’s most creative systems, allowing players to design their House from the ground up. Unlike many life simulation games that focus only on interior decoration, Heartopia lets you construct exterior structures, customize floor plans, and landscape the surrounding garden freely.
Overview of the Building System
Players can access the building system through Construction Mode, usually represented by a hammer or layout icon. Activating this mode pauses character movement and switches the camera to a top-down or free-camera view, making object placement precise and flexible.
- Grid System: Walls, floors, and most objects snap to a grid for clean alignment, while certain decorations allow free placement.
- No Stamina Cost: Building, renovating, and placing furniture does not consume energy.
- Instant Changes: All structural edits are applied immediately once the layout is saved.
Construction Mechanics
Structure & Architecture
Heartopia gives players full control over their home’s physical structure using various architectural elements:
- Walls & Floors: Create custom room shapes and layouts. Walls can be painted or decorated with Wallpaper.
- Roofs: Adjust roof styles, pitch, and colors to match your house theme.
- Doors & Windows: Essential for connecting interior spaces with the outdoors.
- Stairs: Required for multi-story houses and unlocked at higher house levels.
Furniture Placement
Furniture placement in Heartopia is not limited to indoor spaces. Players can decorate both the interior and exterior areas.
- Interior Furniture: Beds, tables, chairs, kitchen appliances, and decorative items.
- Exterior Furniture: Fences, garden paths, outdoor seating, and Crops placed using Planting Boxes.
- Manipulation: Most items can be rotated, and some can be stacked for creative designs.
Blueprints & Unlocks
While basic building items are available early in the game, advanced furniture and structures require Blueprints.
- Blueprint Bubbles: Floating bubbles found around Town or in the wild. Popping them may reward random furniture blueprints.
- Shops: Blanc's Gardening Store and the general furniture shop sell selected blueprints daily.
- Crafting: After learning a blueprint, items can be crafted at a Work Bench using collected Materials.
House Upgrades
Players begin with a small plot and a modest house. Progression allows for larger and more complex builds.
- Expansion: Increase plot size or unlock additional floors using Gold and materials such as Lumber or Brick.
- Terraforming: Advanced upgrades may allow ground modification or the placement of water features (feature to be confirmed).
Trivia
- The Blueprint Bubble system encourages daily exploration since bubbles spawn in random locations.
- Players can visit friends’ homes to view their designs, but only the plot owner can edit the structure.
With its flexible construction tools and creative freedom, the Heartopia Building feature lets players truly express their personal style and create a dream home that grows alongside their adventure.
