Although the game’s full genre has not been revealed, early teasers show the girls performing on stage and Nina putting up show flyers across the city. Given the anime’s core focus on music, fans are speculating that the game may include rhythm gameplay with RPG-style elements.
Expansion Beyond the Anime
The Girls Band Cry project continues to grow beyond television. Alongside the mobile game, Toei Animation has revealed an upcoming original film, in addition to the two-part compilation films already in production. This marks Toei’s commitment to expanding Girls Band Cry into a long-term multimedia franchise.
Tokyo Game Show 2025 Appearance
Fans attending Tokyo Game Show 2025 will be able to see more of the franchise, with a teaser trailer, a playable demo for the PC version, and exclusive promotional items. Another spin-off, Momoka (o) Wasshoi, is also set to launch on PC on September 28, 2025, giving fans even more ways to engage with the universe.
Release Timeline
While Girls Band Cry: First Riff is confirmed to be in active development for Android and iOS, an exact release date has not yet been announced. However, with its planned launch this winter in Japan, fans won’t have to wait too long before experiencing the band’s story in game form.
Stay tuned for more updates as Toei Animation and DONUTS GAMES bring Girls Band Cry from the stage to your mobile screens.
