FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS to Shutdown in Japan on Oct 31
SQUARE ENIX has officially announced that FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS (FFBE) will end its service in Japan on October 31, 2025, marking the end of a decade-long journey for the beloved mobile RPG. This news comes a year after the global version’s shutdown on October 30, 2024, which had closed after running for eight years.
A Decade of Memories
First launched in Japan in 2015 and later released globally in June 2016, FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS quickly became a fan favorite. The game combined classic turn-based RPG mechanics, retro pixel art, and beautiful CG animations, while bringing characters from across the FINAL FANTASY franchise into an all-new world called Lapis. Players could explore dungeons, engage in strategic battles, and challenge each other in PvP arenas.
For many fans, FFBE offered not only nostalgic storytelling but also countless collaborations with iconic FINAL FANTASY characters, making it one of Square Enix’s most enduring mobile titles.
Shutdown Announcement and Final Events
The shutdown announcement was shared via the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. The developers expressed deep gratitude, stating:
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has played FFBE for so many years since its release in 2015.”

Memorial Edition After Service Ends
Although the game will no longer be playable after October 31, Square Enix has confirmed the release of a Memorial Edition. This special version will allow fans to view their collected units and Vision Cards, preserving memories of their time in the game. The Memorial Edition will be made available on the same day the service officially ends.
A Farewell to a Beloved RPG
With its closure, FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS will be remembered as one of Square Enix’s most successful mobile RPGs, lasting 10 years in Japan and building a global community of millions. Many veteran players have shared their gratitude online, reflecting on the friendships and adventures that the game created.
While the end of FFBE marks the closing of a chapter, its legacy will live on through its story, characters, and the Memorial Edition. Fans can now take this time to celebrate their journey in Lapis before bidding farewell on October 31, 2025.
