When you begin your new life in Heartopia, there are plenty of relaxing hobbies to enjoy. From cooking your favorite meals to watching animals thrive in the wild, the island always offers something new to explore.
One of the most peaceful activities is Bird Watching. This hobby encourages calm exploration while allowing you to discover dozens of unique bird species scattered across the island. You can even team up with friends during special events to record rare and magnificent birds.
In this guide, we’ll cover how to start bird watching, how to improve your skills, and a complete list of all birds and where to find them in Heartopia.
How to Find Birds in Heartopia
After completing the tutorial, you’re free to unlock any hobby in any order, including Bird Watching. While it’s recommended to unlock other hobbies first to earn gold faster, Bird Watching opens up a whole new way to explore the world.
To get started, speak with your hobby mentor Bailey J., located above the pet shop in the town center. Bailey J. will give you your first Scanner, a tool used to spot and photograph birds across the island.
Equip the scanner and start observing birds in the wild. Use the reticle to lock onto a bird, then press the button to snap a photo. Each successful scan rewards you with an Info Card that records your progress and the highest-quality photo you’ve taken of that bird.
Info Cards can be:
- Given to Bailey J. for rewards
- Sold for gold
- Collected to complete your Bird Watching Diary
Birds perform various poses, such as standing still or displaying their feathers. Each pose affects the star rating shown on the Info Card.
Tip: Try to wait until the bird chirps before taking a photo. This usually guarantees at least a 2-star rating instead of just one.
Warning: Getting too close will scare birds away, so keep your distance! (alert-warning)
Bird Watching Hobby Skills
As you level up the Bird Watching hobby, you’ll earn skill points that unlock upgrades, tools, and even new bird species. These upgrades make scanning easier and improve your chances of capturing high-quality photos.
Here are all Bird Watching skills and tools you can unlock:
- Scanner Maintenance – Increases scanner durability
- Observation Skill – Improves scanner performance
- Action Recognition – Registers new bird poses correctly
- Info Card Recycling – Allows Info Cards to be exchanged for rewards
- Auto Bird Whistle – Helps attract birds more efficiently
- Burst Mode – Chance to obtain extra Info Cards per scan
- Perfect Photo – Adds +1 star when the bird is centered and close
- Camouflage Bush – A duck-shaped bush that prevents birds from fleeing
