Blade & Soul Heroes Global Service Shuts Down June 16, Only Six Months After Launch

NCSOFT has officially announced that Blade & Soul Heroes will shut down its global service on June 16, 2026. The collectible action MMORPG will end its run just six months after launching worldwide in September 2025, following the recent closure of its Korean version earlier this year.

Blade & Soul Heroes Faces Early Shutdown

Blade & Soul Heroes was introduced as a prequel set three years before the events of the original Blade & Soul storyline. The game featured a vibrant anime-inspired world where players could recruit and build a roster of more than 40 unique heroes.

In the game, players followed the journey of Yusol as she attempted to rebuild her fallen clan while confronting the main antagonist, Yi Chun. Combat revolved around strategic turn-based battles combined with collectible hero mechanics, allowing players to experiment with different team compositions and abilities.

Despite the recognizable IP and unique gameplay mix, the title struggled to maintain momentum after launch, eventually leading to the announcement that the global service will be discontinued.

Final Update Arrives Before End of Service

The development team confirmed through the official website that Blade & Soul Heroes will officially end service on June 16, 2026. Following the announcement, all cash purchases in the in-game shop have already been disabled.

However, players can still enjoy the game until the final shutdown date. A last major update scheduled for March 17 will introduce all remaining content planned for the game, including the addition of a new hero named Ryun.

During the final months of service, the developers are also distributing abundant in-game items through the Shop, Exchange Shops, and various events so players can experience the remaining content before the servers close.

Refunds Available for Recent Purchases

To compensate players affected by the shutdown, NCSOFT confirmed that refunds will be available for users who made purchases within the last three months.

A detailed compensation notice will be published on March 17. Players eligible for refunds will need to follow the instructions provided in that announcement to submit their refund requests.

Mixed Community Reactions

The news of the shutdown has sparked mixed reactions within the community. Some players expressed disappointment that the game is ending so soon after its global launch.

Others, however, responded more bluntly, with one player commenting, “Honestly deserved,” while another joked that they only played the game for a few days before quitting.

Regardless of the reactions, many fans still hope that NCSOFT will continue to support the Blade & Soul franchise in the future. As one of the company's most recognizable MMORPG IPs, the series still holds strong potential if handled with the right direction.

Final Thoughts

While the early closure of Blade & Soul Heroes is unfortunate, players still have a few months left to explore the remaining content and enjoy the final updates before the servers officially shut down in June 2026.

For fans of the Blade & Soul universe, the hope now is that future titles in the franchise will deliver a more lasting experience worthy of the iconic IP.
