Priming is a special upgrade system in RF Online Next that pushes your artifacts beyond normal enhancement limits. This guide covers everything you need to know — how to prime, what materials to use, success rates, and how to farm Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes.
How to Prime an Artifact
Step 1 — Open the Prime Mod Menu
Priming an artifact follows the same process as priming equipment. Open the Enhance Equipment menu and navigate to the Prime Mod tab.
Step 2 — Use the Arcane Artifact Prime Node
The dedicated enhancement material for artifact priming is the Arcane Artifact Prime Node. Standard Prime Nodes and Arcane Nodes are not compatible — you must use this specific material.
Number of Materials Required
The number of Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes needed scales with your artifact's current enhancement level:
| Enhancement Level | Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes Required |
|---|---|
| +1 to +9 | 1 piece |
| +10 to +12 | 2 pieces |
| +13 to +15 | 3 pieces |
Caution: Continuing to enhance an artifact after it has been primed carries a risk of equipment destruction. It is strongly recommended to have a Ctrl+Z Coupon or backup artifacts ready before attempting further enhancement.
Prime Success Rate
This rate does not change based on the enhancement stage. Keep attempting prime modification until you succeed — persistence is the only path forward.
Tip: Since the success rate is relatively low, there's no need to rush priming your artifacts. Focus on building a stable supply of Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes first before committing to multiple attempts.
How to Obtain Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes
Method 1 — Craft from +10 or Higher Artifacts
The primary source of Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes is crafting (dismantling) artifacts that have been enhanced to +10 or higher. The number of nodes obtained scales with the artifact's enhancement level at the time of crafting.
- Only artifacts at +10 enhancement or above yield Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes when used as crafting material.
- Higher enhancement levels on the sacrificed artifact will produce more nodes per craft.
- Because artifact enhancement itself has a low success rate, nodes are considered a scarce resource — plan accordingly.
For Top Players: Due to the difficulty of obtaining these nodes, artifact priming is best treated as an endgame upgrade reserved for players who want to maximize their character's potential. Don't feel pressured to prime early.
Method 2 — In-App Purchases
Paid content in RF Online Next occasionally includes Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes directly, or artifacts pre-enhanced to +10 or near that level, which can then be used as crafting material. Check the in-game shop for available bundle packs.
Status Increase Effects After Priming
Base Stat Boost
Successfully priming an artifact increases its base stats, similar to how priming equipment works. There are two prime stat categories:
- Offensive Prime — Boosts attack-related stats for aggressive builds.
- Defensive Prime — Enhances survivability stats for tank or support roles.
Skill Effect Enhancement at Level 10+
Artifacts can be primed at any enhancement level, but there is an important threshold to be aware of:
Level 10+ Bonus: When prime modification is applied to an artifact at enhancement level +10 or higher, the artifact's activated skill effects receive an additional power boost — making them significantly stronger during prime mode.
This makes it especially worthwhile to push your artifact's enhancement level to at least +10 before attempting to prime, in order to unlock the maximum skill effect enhancement.
Quick Summary
- 1 Open Enhance Equipment > Prime Mod tab to begin the priming process.
- 2 Use Arcane Artifact Prime Nodes as the enhancement material — standard nodes do not work.
- 3 The required number of nodes is 1 (levels 1–9), 2 (levels 10–12), or 3 (levels 13–15).
- 4 The success rate is a flat 20% — keep trying until it succeeds.
- 5 Farm nodes by crafting +10 or higher artifacts or purchasing paid packs from the shop.
- 6 Priming at +10 or above unlocks an additional skill effect enhancement bonus.
