Heartopia Bug Catching Hobby Guide

(toc)

Bug Catching is a collection hobby in Heartopia that allows players to capture insects roaming the wild. From butterflies in open fields to beetles clinging to tree trunks, insects can be recorded in the Encyclopedia, sold for Gold, or gifted to villagers.

This hobby focuses on stealth and precision, requiring careful movement to avoid startling insects.

Overview

The hobby is overseen by Naniwa, Heartopia’s resident entomologist. Players must obtain a Bug Net to begin capturing insects.

  • Flying Insects: Butterflies, Bees (fields and flowers)
  • Ground Insects: Crickets (grass and paths)
  • Tree Insects: Beetles, Cicadas (tree trunks)

Getting Started

Locate Naniwa near forests or natural areas. Speaking with him unlocks Bug Catching and rewards your first Bug Net.

How to Catch Bugs

  1. Equip the Net from your inventory.
  2. Spot the Target using movement or sound cues.
  3. Approach Carefully:
    • Walk for common insects
    • Sneak for rare or skittish insects
  4. Swing when the insect is within range.

Missing a swing or rushing may cause insects to flee permanently.

Progression

  • Earn XP with every catch
  • Higher levels unlock better nets
  • Naniwa offers bug-catching challenges
